BBQ will be served between 5:00-6:00pm - but you are welcome to come out sooner.
Martha and Roy Miller are offering their house as a central "cooling off point" if you should need it. And (God forbid) should it rain, it is our back up location.
The golf tournament (scramble) at Marysville Country Club is very casual. All are welcome. If you don't want to play in the tourney show up at 8:00am and tee off in front of the group.
Don't forget to read the list below that includes suggested items to bring with you.
Reminder, if you feel inclined to swim - you must bring and wear a life-jacket. I'm not doing CPR on you.
So far the people traveling from farthest away are coming from Washington DC! No, we are not related to the Obamas (as far as I have traced back anyway...).

Yep, It will be Hot!
Just in case you are wondering - yes, it will be hot. There is a shelter out at the Farm, some shade trees and there will be some awning tents. AND to top it off - we will be having the best ever - Angie's Italian Ice - a Kansas City tradition since 1996! (Word has it that Angie herself will be attending! ;) ) I do recommend dressing in light colors, bringing a squirt gun, a portable fan, lots of water, extra ice for your cooler, or something else to keep cool until the sun goes down!
I've received word that some are concerned about accessibility out at the Farm. Driving directions will be available at the "Meet and Greet" on Friday (which will be hosted at the home of Joe & MaryBeth Kennedy) and directional signs will be posted along the way, guiding you to the Farm. Additionally, we have arranged for a golf cart on-site to transport from the parking area to the shelter.
I do need a headcount for the BBQ. I (Carrie) am keeping the headcount, so if you haven't emailed me directly with the number attending in your family, please do by Tuesday, June 30th! (cepadden at msn.com)

Schedule of Events
I was out at The Farm over Mother's Day weekend - the first time I have been there in many, many years - and it was gorgeous! Martha and Roy are taking excellent care - mowing, trimming, etc. I now have a better visual for the reunion and am more excited than ever! So here is the plan for the weekend:
Friday, July 3rd
7:00pm -- Welcome Gathering, Location TBD
Casual meet and greet, BYOB
Saturday, July 4th
8:00am - 12:00pm -- Golf at Marysville Country Club
Those interested are welcome to meet at the clubhouse to divide into groups. Green fees are $15 per person (cart rentals available). I hear there is an annual golf tournament (scramble) beginning at 9:00am and you can participate in if you wish. There is no formal registration, just show up and toss money in a hat. If you don't want to participate in the scramble, I suggest arriving earlier (8am) to tee off in front of the tournament. If you have questions about golf, contact Jon and Nancy Padden at jonpadden at hotmail.com.
10:00am - 12:00pm -- Playtime at Wildcat Wilderness
Those with little ones can meet and play at the awesome play area in Frankfort's City Park.
Lunch on your own
There are a handful of places to eat in the area. For some of the local favorites, try: Red's across the street from First National Bank in Frankfort, Little Haps in Home City, The Wagon Wheel Cafe on Broadway in Marysville.

- Life preserver - Feel free to take a dip in the pond, however, to swim you MUST bring and wear your life jacket!!

- Sunscreen, bug spray, flashlight and a camera
- Great stories and memories to share!

So, are you checking the blog?
When I first set this blog up, I set it to "private" as to protect this information from all the riff-raff and yahoos out there in the wide world of the web. But the more I thought about, I've decided to go ahead and make it public, as I think it will make it a little easier for those who may not be so, ummm... internet savvy, if you will; as well as make it just plain easier for anyone who wants more information to find more information. So share this blog link with your cousins, nephews, grandparents, aunts, second cousins, third cousins, etc. They should now be able to access it without a setting up a user name and password.

2009 Summer Reunion
The Kennedy Family Reunion is in the works! Save the date - Saturday, July 4, 2009 at "The Farm" (right outside Frankfort). Join us for a day of fun in the sun, good food, fireworks, and fun with the family. We're thrilled to announce that Highway Star BBQ Club (the Thoma boys) will provide their award winning BBQ!
Ann Kennedy Kohman (fasr2000 at bluevalley.net) will be your lodging liaison. If you are not interested in camping at The Farm, she can help set you up with one of the lovely Frankfort-area Inns.
We need more help, so if you are interested in joining Ann, Jeannette Miller Peterson and I on one of the planning committees (Recreation, Food/Drink, Fireworks, General Set Up, etc.) please contact me (cepadden at msn.com) or post here in the comment section of this blog.
I'm trying my best to keep everyone in the loop and would appreciate your help in spreading the word or sending names and email addresses for long lost relatives. I hear that in addition to W.F. and Opal's kids/grandkids/etc., some extended family will be joining us! This has been quite the learning experience for me - I did attempt to list names and relations but honestly, I think it was just a few years ago that I got the birth order down of my aunts and uncles (check this: Anne, Jean, Janet, Sue, Sara, Bill, Martha, Judy, Joe, Nancy, Jane - and can say it pretty fast too!). Regardless, I am happy to say that I will have the pleasure of meeting more of the Kennedy clan!
This blog is the place where you can come to learn the most up to date information on the reunion. So please check back regularly and share the link with other family members.
